Quick Start

Upload your first document and start asking questions in under 5 minutes.

Getting Started in 3 Steps

1

Create Your Account

Sign up with your email or Google account. No credit card required for the free tier—you get 20 documents and 50,000 embedding tokens to start.

2

Upload to Your Vault

Drag and drop files into your Vault. We support PDFs, Word docs, Excel files, and plain text. Files are encrypted and stored securely.

3

Add to Desk & Start Chatting

Click "Add to Desk" on any file to make it searchable. Once processed (usually under 30 seconds), you can ask questions and get answers grounded in your documents.

Supported File Types

Zedly AI works with most common document formats:

PDF DOCX DOC TXT XLSX XLS CSV

Native PDFs (created digitally) work best. Scanned documents also work but may take longer to process and have slightly lower accuracy.

Understanding the Workflow

Vault vs. Active Desk

Think of the Vault as your filing cabinet—a secure place to store all your documents. The Active Desk is your workspace where you place the documents you're currently working with.

  • Vault: Unlimited storage, documents are encrypted at rest
  • Active Desk: Documents here are indexed and searchable via AI

When you "Add to Desk," Zedly processes your document—extracting text, chunking it into sections, and creating vector embeddings that enable semantic search.

Asking Questions

Once documents are on your Active Desk, simply type your question in natural language:

"What are the renewal terms in the lease agreement?"
"Summarize the key obligations in this contract"
"Find all mentions of liability caps"

Zedly searches across all documents on your desk and generates answers with references to the source text.

Free Tier Limits

The free plan includes:

  • 20 documents in your Vault
  • 50,000 embedding tokens (~100-150 pages of text)
  • 100 chat messages per month
