Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a QBO file to CSV?

Upload your QBO file using the converter above. We automatically parse all transactions and let you preview them before downloading. Click "Convert to CSV" to generate a clean spreadsheet file with columns for Date, Description, Amount, Type, and Memo.

What is a QBO file?

A QBO file is a QuickBooks-specific version of the OFX (Open Financial Exchange) format. Banks and financial institutions generate QBO files for importing transactions into QuickBooks. The format uses SGML markup to store transaction dates, amounts, descriptions, and account information.

Can I open a QBO file in Excel?

QBO files cannot be opened directly in Excel because they use SGML markup, not tabular data. Use this converter to extract the transactions into a CSV file, which opens natively in Excel, Google Sheets, and other spreadsheet applications.

What's the difference between QBO, QFX, and OFX?

All three are based on the Open Financial Exchange standard. QBO is Intuit's QuickBooks-branded version, QFX is Quicken's branded version, and OFX is the generic standard. This converter supports all three formats since they share the same underlying structure.

Can I convert a QBO file to CSV without importing it into QuickBooks?

Yes. This tool parses the raw QBO file directly and extracts all transactions into a clean CSV with labeled columns (Date, Description, Amount, Type, Memo, Check Number). No QuickBooks installation or account is required. Just upload your QBO file and download the CSV.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Your file is uploaded directly to encrypted cloud storage, processed without human review, and automatically deleted. We never store or share your financial data. Logged-in users can optionally save conversions to their private Vault for future reference.
